La Guajira

La Guajira – 2017
Installation, mixed media on paper, variable dimensions

This project is the result of a travel investigation to the peninsula of La Guajira, a land without borders. The peninsula’s borders are at times inexistent, boundaries which the indigenous population can freely cross. The work touches upon the topic of real border history, which explains how life on the frontiers is influenced by the existence of geopolitical boundary regulations. An installation of drawings, notes and silkscreens.

This installation is part of a series of works, which touch upon current political issues such as migration & border controls. The works not only reflect the political status quo, but rather invite the beholder to perceive current circumstances from a stand point of the past, and how these have developed ever since.
